Recently I was poking around my new Chicago kitchen, in search of something to calm my very vocal sweet tooth. I pulled out some SO Delicious Pomegranate Chip “ice cream” made with coconut milk … but I wanted something crunchy too. My craving was calling for both taste and texture.
Opening my cupboards to look for nuts or perhaps a cookie to crumble atop my frozen dessert, I spotted a box of savory, whole wheat 34° Crisps.
With haste, I laid out eight of the wafer thin crackers on a bamboo cutting board, then scooped two tablespoons of the thick, cold pomegranate chocolate goodness onto each three of the crisps, softly pressing the remaining crackers on top. And in that moment 34° Crisps ice cream sandwiches were born.
When I took a bite, I knew this was a GENIUS RECIPE. The thinness of the salty cone-like cracker gave way with ease, making it the perfect vessel in which to deliver the chilly, comforting creaminess of my delightfully dairy free So Delicous! And nine 34° Crisps can be enjoyed for a mere 50 calories, so your sugar fix can be cured for under 200 calories. #Lovethat
A GENIUS RECIPE upholds the following four pillars:
- Craveable Taste
- Fantastic Texture
- Somewhat Simple
- Creative & Unique
Now I’m excited to explore creating other ice cream sandwiches with savory crackers. Combining salt and sweet always makes my tummy smile on the inside.
